Between June and July it is
always a pleasure to rediscover the sweet taste of cherries. These
summer fruits are not only good but also very healthy as
confirmed by a USDA-ARS Western Human Nutrition Research Center study
published in the Journal of Nutrition.
The study, conducted on healthy subjects, did emerge as a daily consumption of cherries, it could significantly reduce the concentrations of specific inflammatory bio markers in blood. With their excellent in fiber, potassium, melatonin and vitamin C, cherries, then, would the allied force in the prevention of certain inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer.
As for the whole fruits and vegetables, it is always preferable to choose the biological origin cherries to minimize the intake of chemical substances. They can be eaten for breakfast or a refreshing snack during the hot summer days.
